What to buy a one year old

My husband’s god daughter is one next month. Not having kiddies, it’s always tough to know what they would need or want and, as previously documented, I like to buy something that maybe parents wouldn’t themselves.

We’ve talked a lot about what to buy etheoutlaw and ruled out the (amazing) Florasaurus range at Boden because we don’t want to give clothes. Instead, husband wanted something that might have a longer than 6-month shelf life.

Over to me, the present finder.

Now I am a HUGE Rifle Paper Company fan – if you don’t know them yet, they are a magnificent stationery brand and have incredible designers. I have a few of their notebooks (they can be tricky to track down in the UK).

This year they have illustrated a hardback version of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and it’s absolutely lovely (and currently a good price at The Book Depository. As a book lover, I just know this present will be well received by etheoutlaw’s parents and my other half is pleased it’s not a tutu (again). Books are knowledge after all and I believe a wonderful way to help encourage the development of imagination. And, just look at the beautiful pictures.

They’re not off the hook yet though. I’m saving for a drum kit for her 2nd birthday.
